The values in Table 8‑1 is a doubleMaxwellian fit to an extremely severe event observed by the SCATHA spacecraft on 24 April 1979 [RD.114], when the spacecraft charged to -8 kV in sunlight. The values in Table 8‑2 are taken from [RD.10]. Note that although the listed ion and electron densities are not equal, electrical neutrality is maintained by less energetic plasma which is not involved in the charging process and so not stated.
